Nursery Rhymes

Nursery rhymes play an important part of childhood development.

Nursery rhymes are fantastic vocabulary boosters.  They often feature rhyming patterns and simple repetitive phrases that young children find easy to repeat.  Children find nursery rhymes very relatable to their own everyday experiences.  By learning the following nursery rhymes we hope to provide our pupils with a broad range of rhymes that they can use to support their language acquisition and make links to the world around them.

Nursery Rhymes:

  • boost vocabulary and language development
  • develop literacy skills
  • provide support for early numeracy skills
  • help children to develop social, emotional and physical skills.

We will be teaching our children the nursery rhymes listed below at the stated times throughout the year.

Please support your child by learning the rhymes and practising the rhymes at home.
